Attention: Vacationers with Early Flights from Miami/Ft. Lauderdale on Saturday 11/8

There may be delays in exiting The Keys.  The northbound lanes of U.S. 1 at the Jewfish Creek Bridge and the 18-Mile Stretch are to be be closed Saturday morning for the Key Largo Bridge Run. Between the hours of 5 a.m. and 11 a.m., the Florida Department of Transportation approved the northbound lane be closed from mile marker 106 to MM 112. During those hours, northbound traffic is to be diverted onto State Road 905 and Card Sound Road. The southbound lanes are not to be affected by the event.

For those unfamiliar with Card Sound Road, it will not take you out of your way, and it joins with US 1 shortly before Florida City where you would pick up the Florida Turnpike.  Many local residents prefer it, in fact, to the 18-mile stretch as there are more passing opportunities.  There is a $1
